Mr. Todd Del Frate -2-
CONCEPTUAL CLOSURE DESIGN, CORRAL HOLLOW SANITARY LANDFILL
• Placement of plywood over the edge of the GCL in CalTrans property to facilitate the
uninterrupted extension of the closure barrier by CalTrans later.
• Installation of a "break -away" GCL panels over the Shell Oil pipeline to allow access to
the pipeline with minimal damage to the barrier layer. The break -away panels would be
replaced after pipe repair was complete. A seal between adjacent panel pieces will be
provided by the placement of bentonite powder, just as the seal between adjacent GCL
panels installed for the rest of the project.
• Applying powdered bentonite to seal around the fence posts.
• Key -in to the existing closure barrier (Figure 4)
Note that the County must obtain permission to encroach the Shell Oil easement within our
property for the placement of the GCL and all other fill materials over the pipeline. We are
continuing to attempt to contact Shell Oil regarding this issue, and hope that this feature will
address their concerns
I hope this area is acceptable to all parties. The closure plan and closure construction design will
be based upon these core design features. We are continuing to work on those portions of the
closure plan that do not directly relate to these design features.
Please call me at (209) 468-8504 with any questions.
Sincerely,
W.
