G <br />US Army Corps <br />x,f Engineers Public Notice No. 9 0 0 0 0 5 7 Date:February 20, 1990 <br />Sacramento District <br />650 Capitol Mail In Reply Refer to the above Comments Due by: March 20, 19jil-ft <br />Sacramento, CA 95814-4794 Public Notice No. <br />TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: F NTAL HEA I <br />tv i ; "C2, �, 4 ivi <br />SUBJECT: Application for a Department of the Army Permit under <br />authority of Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act and Section <br />404 of the Clean Water Act, to bury a 7211 sewer line under Walker <br />Slough, as shown on the enclosed drawings. <br />APPLICANT: City of Stockton, 425 North El Dorado Street, <br />Stockton, California 95202. <br />LOCATION: The site of the proposed work is about 50 feet <br />downstream of the Manthey Road Bridge crossing in Section 11, <br />Township 1 North, Range 6 East, City of Stockton, San Joaquin <br />County, California. <br />PURPOSE: The applicant states that in order to facilitate the <br />growth of developable land, an adequate sanitary sewer line is <br />necessary. <br />PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The applicant proposes to bury a sanitary <br />sewer line about 3 feet below the bottom of Walker Slough and <br />cover it with a one foot thick concrete cap to protect both the <br />sewer system and the stream bed from possible erosion. <br />AREA DESCRIPTION: On the north bank of Walker Slough at the site <br />there is very little vegetation. On the south bank the <br />vegetation is sparse, with a few small trees and low growing <br />riparian vegetation close to the waterline. Normal stream flow <br />velocities in Walker Slough are low and the water is shallow at <br />the proposed crossing site. <br />ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The applicant is applying to California <br />Regional Water Quality Control Board for certification, or waiver <br />of certification. The work will not <br />adversely affect any threatened or endangered species or their <br />critical habitat. The District Engineer has made this <br />determination based on information provided by the applicant and <br />on the Corps' preliminary evaluation. <br />
