. H. KLEINFELDER & ASSOCIATES . File No. S-1147-27
April 19, 1974
PAGE THREE
FIELD EXPLORATIONS
The field explorations for this study consisted of the
drilling and sampling of three test borings . - The borings
were drilled on March 11, 1974. The borings, were made with
5-inch diameter flight-auger type drilling equipment. A
representative of our firm directed the drilling and sampltng
operations and maintained a continuous log of -the soils
encountered in the borings. Relatively undisturbed core
samples were collected by pushing a 2-1/2-inch diameter,
sampler into the sail using a hydraulic ram. The pressures
required to advance the sampler into the soil are notedon
the Logs of Borings, Plate I, at the corresponding sample
location.
The approximalte locations at which the borings were
drilled are shown on the Plot Pian, Plate I. The borings
have been referenced to existing ground face elevations
at the time these boringe were drilled. Elevation data were
obtained from the City of Stockton. on. April 12, 1974.
" Boring 1, drilled near the wet end of the landfill
site, was made from the surface of the existing soil and debris..
Boring 2, drilled on the east near French Camp Road, was
- r
". made in an area in which no sanitary landfill has been: placed.
g,
Boring 3 was drilled from the bottom of an existing excavated
µ
area near the northeast edge of the present landfill .
