CITY OF ST CKTON <br /> STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA <br /> NEWS RELEASE DATE: June 28 , 19 7 <br /> FROM �1 t, <br /> DOUG BRODIE <br /> CIVIC INFORMATION OFFICERTA <br /> CITY HALL, STOCKTON, CALIF. 95202 <br /> DIAL 944-8306 J <br /> City of Stockton residents won' t have so far to drive to get <br /> rid of rubbish and garden refuse beginning Saturday, July 1. <br /> On that day, the City will open for public use, at a nominal fee , <br /> the French Camp Refuse Transfer Station located on the south city <br /> limits across French Camp Slough to handle only garden refuse and <br /> household rubbish. <br /> City Manager Elder Gunter announced that the transfer station <br /> will open Saturday and will remain open every weekend and holiday, <br /> throughout the year. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. <br /> "For almost three years I have had requests for the City to pro- <br /> vide an area in which our citizens can haul their rubbish on week- <br /> ends and holidays . It has been necessary for our citizens to take <br /> their rubbish to the Harney Lane Dump , out in the vicinity of Lodi. <br /> Noir they will be able to take rubbish and trash to our French Camp <br /> site and it will be transferred to the City facility on Austin Road. <br /> Signs have been posted at the site and an area, blacktopped for <br /> the use of motorists when they back up to the dumping pit. An <br /> experienced operator will be in attendance to aid those who need help <br /> in backing up trailers . <br /> -No commercial haulers will be allowed to use the facility during <br /> the weekend and holiday hours , nor will the transfer station accept <br /> garbage or tires . <br /> The area has been fenced to prevent paper and light rubbish from <br /> blowing about the area, and no burning will be permitted. �� <br /> OVER � ) <br />
