The existing landfill gas collection system was
installed in 1996 in an effort to control subsurface migration of landfill gas. While the system has
decreased the amount of migration, landfill gas that exceeds regulatory limits is still appearing in
perimeter probes around the north half of the landfill.
We believe that the gas control system is not providing adequate vacuum pressure to gas
collection wells on the north half of the site. We have determined that certain modifications can
be made to the system in order to provide significantly more vacuum to the wellfield which will
hopefully bring the perimeter monitoring probes into compliance.
As requested, the following is a work plan describing proposed modifications to the gas system.
If you have any questions regarding this issue, please call me at 8-3066.
WJ:rh
S:\WES\fU-\GAS\wkpings.mem
Enclosure
c: Scott Walker, California Integrated Waste Management Board
LA 11458
