Currently, there are two areas of significant erosion on the side slopes at the site
(see attached figure). We believe that these areas developed due to blockages in the top deck
drainage ditches which prevented runoff from reaching the down drains spaced throughout the site.
There are also areas of settlement on the top deck of the landfill. These areas have produced
ponding water during wet weather this winter. The County performed some minor repairs prior to
the wet season, but more areas must be repaired. As of approximately April 14, 2000, the site was
becoming dry enough to work on the side slopes and top deck with the necessary equipment.
However, recent rain has postponed our ability to work in these areas. The most significant
erosion area on the west side of the primary site has been covered with plastic and sand bags to
prevent further damage.
The following is an anticipated schedule for all repairs, weather permitting. If you have any
questions regarding this work plan, please feel free to call me at 8-3066.
