Appendix C
SAMPLING AND ANALYSIS PROCEDURES
4
INTRODUCTION
This appendix presents the sampling and analysis procedures used by
k EMCON Associates during the sampling event conducted at the Harney
Lane Sanitary Landfill in May 1987. Four ground-water monitoring
wells installed by EMCON and five existing private wells were sampled
for chemical analysis (see Figure 3 of the report) . The private wells
were sampled on May 11, 1987, and the four EMCON-installed monitoring
wells (MW-1, MW-2, MW-3, and MW-4) were sampled on May 12 and 13,
1987.
A
GROUND-WATER SAMPLING AND ANALYSIS PLAN
The following Procedures are provided so that
(1) consistent and re-
producible methods are used to obtain samples from monitoring wells
and (2) proper analyses are performed on the samples. Parameters cho-
sen for analysis were those presented in the monitoring plan prepared
in 1986 by J.H. Kleinfelder & Associates.
The sampling procedures used were based on:
® Procedures Manual for Ground-Water Monitoring at Solid
Waste Disposal Facilities (EPA/530/SW-611, August 1977)
• Test Methods for Evaluatij39 Solid Waste; Physical/
Chemical Methods (U.S. EPA SW-846, November 1986, 3rd
Edition)
The procedures and techniques listed below are described in the fol-
lowing sections:
I • Sample collection
• Sample shipment
PJ9 9390102.000 - C-1
1
