Pertinent field information recorded during the monitoring program at
Wells MW-1 through MW-4 are given in Table C-1.
Private Well Sampling
Five existing private wells (the landfill water supply, Sawyer, Hall ,
v Whittaker, and Goehring wells) were sampled on May 11, 1987, for water
quality analysis. The procedures used to sample the private wells are
very similar to those used to sample the "MW" series monitoring wells.
Prior to sampling the private wells, depth to water measurements were
recorded at the Sawyer, Goehring, and landfill water supply wells.
The Whittaker and Hall wells could not be accessed at the well source;
therefore, no depth to water measurements were taken at these wells.
Samples from each of therivate wells were collected
P as close to the
well head as possible. Since all of the private wells were in opera-
tion, extended purging prior to sampling was not required. However,
the water in the plumbing and water storage tank was evacuated prior
to obtaining samples. Samples were collected directly from the well
source into the appropriately preserved bottles for the analyses to be
performed. Private well samples were not filtered. Table C-2 pre-
sents depth to water information and descriptions of sampling loca-
tions for each private well sampled. All procedures described in this
s document for the EMCON-installed monitoring wells in the equipment
cleaning, sample preservation, sample shipment, analytical procedures,
and chain-of-custody control sections were also observed for private
well sampling.
Sample Preservation
Sample preservation varied with each type of analytical parameter.
Selected container types and materials were nonreactive with the
sample and the particular analytical parameter tested.
