The area is free of underground construction besides the landfill
itself; therefore, this was not a major consideration for
determining well location.
Data regarding the age and moisture of waste was not available, so
age and moisture of waste were not used as major design criteria.
Each Monitoring well is 611 in diameter and contains three
monitoring probes (figure 3) . One monitoring probe was placed at
the maximum depth of the well bore, one at approximately one half
the depth of the well bore, and one at approximately 5 feet below
the ground surface.
V. MONITORING AND REPORTING
Monitoring is performed in accordance with the CIWMB's regulations
for closure and postclosure. Methane was monitored monthly for the
first six months according to the recommendation of the LEA. The
frequency was reduced to quarterly after six months and will
continue on a quarterly basis throughout the postclosure period.
Monitoring frequency and parameters being tested may be increased
as necessary or as directed by the Local Enforcement Agency or the
CIWMB.
10
