Groundwater Monitoring
Operating 112 foot water well is on site approximately 150 feet
west of north end of Pit.
Water stands at 48 foot depth and is tested each autumn by San
Joaquin Local Health District to determine any pollution.
(a) Copy of 1977 test results will be sent when received
from District.
Sect 16. Use Per etc.
1. I enclose copy of Regional Water Quality Control Board
letter of June 15, 1973 approving the site for Class III and limited
Class II (automotive waste) disposal. Also submitted a copy of our
operating plan letter of June 29, 1973. No later correspondence
exists , but Board inspectors have visited the site annually with no
criticisms.
2. Zonin
4 '
The site was zoned, in the County 'as M-2 (heavy industrial) .
And the surrounding lands to north, south and east are zoned M-2.
Through bureaucratic error, when the City of Stockton
annexed the dump site in 1975 as uninhabited land, an R-1 zone label
was attached under "prevailing practice".
The City Planning Commission has now instituted action of
its own volition to zone the entire Calif Clay parcel and the 15 acre
triangular area adjacent to the south, across Walker Slough to M-2.
