STATE OF CALIFORNlla:, ' )
SS
COUNTY OF SAN JOAQUIN )
I , MARSHALL McCARTY, being duly sworn, declare that I was
Plant Superintendent at California Clay Products Company and was
employed by California Clay Products Company for the years 1953
to 1971.
That I was in charge of the clay digging operations in the
ten-acre clay pit at 3200 S. McKinley Avenue, Stockton, California.
That this pit was bottomed at approximately twenty-one 1)
feet below ground surface when quarrying ceased in 19 7. That during
the years 1966 and 1967 in digging small test holes at various
portions of the Pit to determine the clay reserve, I found that
the dense calcareous hardpan clay extended uniformly, and without
sand strata, to a further depth of at least fifteen (15) additional
feet from the bottom of the pit, and that the groundwater table
lay well below this thirty-six (36) foot level.
No actual test holes have been drilled below thirty-six (36)
feet however from my general knowledge-of this area of Stockton,
I believe the tight clay deposit is at least fifty (50) feet
thick.
n
MARSHALL McCARTY
Subscribed and sworn to before me
this day of -' ( , 1973.
A1P,t-Ybol)NIA t'
(OLlidly
Notary ublic in and r the County . . .
of San Joaquin, State o California.
y t
