Re ort of Waste Discharge
Re : California Clay Products
(continued)
(B) III. Waste Treatment or Disposal Facilities:
3. other.
An abandoned clay quarry, with a solid clay bottom
(30 additional feet of clay underlies Pit, and water
table is more than 100 feet below floor of quarry) •
Quarry is being filled (since before 1960) with solid
waste (Class III) such as dirt, concrete, cement
asbestos waste, asphalt (no paper, wood, tree trunks ,
or any organic or decomposable material) . No treatment
except periodic levelling of the material.
(D) 5. originally 500 ,000 cubic yards , of which about 350 ,000
yards have been filled. With addition of 150 ,000 more
yards the pit will be filled to ground level and will be
a most eminent industrial site, with proper soil conditions
for any type of building.
(E) No surface water exit exists from the pit. [Tinter rains
fill a one-acre portion of the pit bottom to about one
foot in depth and over a period of seven days the bottom
water evaporates into air and slowly percolates through
bottom.
