STATE OF CALIFORNIA Pete Wilson, Governor
CALIFORNIA INTEGRATED WASTE MANAGEMENT BOARD
1020 Ninth Street, Suite 100
Sacramento, California 95814
iA'i' 5 Y i In a i
Fred Kaufman, Program Manager
San Joaquin County Public Health Service
Environmental Health Division
P. O. Box 2009 RECEIVED
Stockton, CA 95201 M AY 2 0 '1991
Subject: Review of RFI's ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH
Dear Mr. Kaufman: PERMIT/SERVICES
This is in response to your April 30, 1991 letter regarding
Report of Facility Information (RFI) reviews.
We appreciate the opportunity to provide comments on the RFI's
during early stages of the permitting process. However, staff
does not usually provide written comments on RFI's due to
workload time constraints.
Our standard practice is to provide written comments on a RFI
when it is accompanied by a Solid Waste Facilities Permit (SWFP).
We will comment on RFI's submitted independent of a draft SWFP
when there is an urgency due to special circumstances.
It is the responsibility of your office, as the Local Enforcement
Agency, to determine the adequacy and accuracy of all documents
submitted as part of the permit application. once your office
has determined the application package is complete, a draft
permit should be prepared and mailed to the Board. At that time,
we will prepare written comments on all documents submitted in
support of the permit. You are not, however relieved from
complying with the timeframes for submittal of proposed permits
in the absence of comments from Board staff.
I trust this letter will
review of RFI's. If you
matter, you may contact
at (916) 327-9351.
Sincerely,
Martha V!Xueza
Permitting Branch
Permits Division
clarify our policy regarding the
have any further questions on this
me at (916) 327-9347 or Beatrice Cuenca
cc: Bernard Vlach, Chief Enforcement Division, CIWMB
MV:BC:mea
:Kaufman.1tr
:andersen's (misc/disk)
-- Printed on Recycled Paper --
