CENTRAL VALLEREGIONAL WATER QUALITY PNTROL BOAR1
IINSPECTION REPORT I
22 March 2007
DISCHARGER: Sims Hugo Neu
LOCATION & COUNTY: Cove Contractors Landfill, Stockton, San Joaquin County
CONTACT(S): Andrew Keller
INSPECTION DATE: 21 March 2007
INSPECTED BY: Mary Boyd
ACCOMPANIED BY: none
OBSERVATIONS AND COMMENTS: Inspection of the completed work shows that winter rains
have eroded the edges of the foundation layer. Rills and gullies were observed along the
eastern perimeter of the foundation layer. Multiple drums of well purge water were stored on
site, presumably from the 30 January 2007 sampling event.
SUMMARY: This is a construction site for a final landfill cap; the majority of the site is
compacted imported soil with no vegetation. The foundation layer of the cap has been
completed. Construction of the low -hydraulic conductive layer and vegetative layer are
scheduled for completion at the beginning of the 2007 dry season. Erosion control measures,
such as tracking up and down slopes, installing wattles, or applying mulch were not apparent.
Lack of sufficient control measures has lead to the formation of rills and gullies in the bare soil
along the eastern perimeter slopes.
