Box 2009
Stockton, California 95201
Subject: Cove Contractors
Dear Mr. Kaufman:
The following information is provided in response to your letter dated March 8, 1993, and
discussions held during the March 4 site visit by Steven Sasson and Ed Padilla or your staff,
Jack Hecht of Cove Contractors, and Tim Crandall and Steven Duran of Kleinfelder. This
letter and the accompanying drawings describe the interim drainage plan that will be
implemented at the site until landfill activities resume.
Enclosed, please find the following five drawings submitted for your evaluation and approval:
■ Drawing 1- Cove Contractors Disposal Site
Existing Site Topography and Features
• Drawing 2 - Cove Contractors Disposal Site
Grading for Drainage
■ Drawing 3 - Cove Contractors Disposal Site
12 Inch Cover Grade
■ Drawing 4 - Cove Contractors Disposal Site
Cross Sections North - South
■ Drawing 5 - Cove Contractors Disposal Site
Cross Sections West - East
Also enclosed are engineering calculations for run-off from a 10 year, 24 hour, storm event
for the Cove Contractors site. These calculations indicate an approximate run-off flow rate of
0.25 cfs. This results in a 24 hour total run-off volume for the site of approximately 21,000
cubic feet.
Drawing 1 is similar to Drawing 1 submitted with the Report of Disposal Site Information
(RDSI) for the facility, showing the existing site.
Drawing 2 shows the proposed regrading of the existing surface material on the northern half
of the site. This regrading will direct drainage in this area to the existing excavation on the
north end of the property. This regrading of the site will also mitigate historical situations
where run-off from the site accumulated above areas of refuse disposal. Drainage will be
CLI -60 (1993) Page 1 of 3 24-215600-F02
Copy1ri ht 1993 Kleinf lder, Inc.
KLEINFELUE 3077 Fite Circe, Sacramento, CA 95827 (916) 366-1701
