Christy, Norm Nilsen has not been composting for a while now. 2005 would be about right for the time frame. We asked if
he wanted to be inactivated and he did not. I will have my staff contact him and have him either inactivate or submit new
notification form. Robert
From: Karl, Christi ne@Ca I Recycle [mailto:Christine.Karl@CalRecycle.ca.gov]
Sent: Tuesday, April 22, 2014 12:34 PM
To: Robert McClellon [EH]
Cc: 'MICHELLE JOE'
Subject: RE: Information Request for Nilsen Farms (39 -AA -0043)
Hi Robert,
I received the following information request and there is conflicting information in the database regarding
volumes in addition to a note that they ceased operating in 2005. Can you confirm if they are active and submit
a new notification if needed. Thanks.
CK
From: MICHELLE JOE [mailto:MJOE@airguality.org]
Sent: Tuesday, April 22, 2014 8:59 AM
To: Karl, Christine @CaIRecycle
Subject: Information Request for Nilsen Farms (39 -AA -0043)
Hi Christine,
Upon discovering that Nilsen Farms sells their turkey litter compost and is therefore not an excluded activity under Title 14
CCR 17852, Section 17855(a)(1), we are looking into permitting this facility and would like to request the following
information, if available:
- From the SWIS Facility/Site Summary Details, confirm that the maximum throughput is 500 CY/year.
- From the SWIS Facility/Site Summary Details, confirm that the maximum capacity is 10,000 CY/day (which
appears to conflict and exceed the maximum throughput of 500 CY/year).
- Provide any historic throughput records from previous years, showing the actual amount of turkey litter composted
(CY/year).
Thank you in advance for your cooperation and assistance, and please let me know if you should have any questions about
this request.
Thank you,
Michelle Joe
Associate Air Quality Engineer
Sacramento Metropolitan AQMD
777 12th Street, 3rd Floor
Sacramento, CA 95814
mi oe(a,airauality. om
(916) 874-4853 Office
(916) 874-4899 Fax
