trailers for shipment to the landfill the following work day. Based on the
maximum inflow rate of 1,700 tpd and a bulk density of refuse on the tip floor
of 400 pounds/cubic yard, 8,500 cubic yards of storage capacity is needed for
each working day. The station has the capacity to store 1,700 tons of waste
per day. The storage area within the transfer building is approximately
17,500 square feet which will accommodate 8,500 cubic yards of waste at the
maximum inflow rate. This storage capacity is also sufficient to handle
periods during the operating day when the rate of incoming tons per hour
exceeds the rate of outgoing tons per hour including activities associated with
sorting, processing and removal of wastes and/or recyclables. Incoming
waste is not stored at the facility for longer than 48 hours. Processed wood
chips will be stored no longer than 6 months from date of receipt.
2.1.4 LOADING TRANSFER VEHICLES
Transfer trucks enter the site through gate 3 or 4 and proceed to the ramp at
the rear of the transfer building. The truck/transfer trailers back down the
ramp which leads into the pit located at the back of the transfer building floor
(see Figure 5). The transfer trucks are loaded with municipal solid waste
through the openings in the floor (or pit) of the transfer building. Waste is
distributed within the trailer according to gross weight limitations. Weighing is
performed after loading is complete using the scales at the pate prior to
exiting the #a6ltl+tyfacility.
Once the trailer is loaded it pulls out of the tunnel and exits the facility via gate
4 (see Figure 2).
2.2 HOURS OF OPERATION
Facility operating hours are summarized on Table 1.
Table 1
Central Valley Waste Services MRF/TS
Operating Hours
Facility Operating Days Permitted Hours Operating Hours
Transfer Station Monday— Friday 24 hrs/day 79.00a.m. — 5:00 p.m.
Saturday 24 hrs/daV 8:00a.m. — 35:00 p.m.
Sunday 7.00am-5:00pm Closed
Central Valley Waste Services-P, JS- 2-3
Transfer(Processing Report
Section 2-,34 4-34/24/17
