FLINN
DEPUTY DIRECTOR
MANUELLOPEZ
DEPUTY DIRECTOR
The Solid Waste office received the attached inspection report on
October 3, 1994, noting broken fence and ponding liquid as areas
of concern.
On the night of September 25, 1994, vandals cut through the fence
and entered the station property. Our policy is to inspect the
fence daily and make repairs on the same day. On September 26,
1994, we noted the cut in the fence and made the repair on that
day.
Concerning ponding liquid, we have no knowledge of ponding
liquid. Apparently, your inspector did not notify the transfer
station supervisor that he was making an inspection, nor did he
discuss the results of his inspection with transfer station
personnel. Therefore, we don't know what his area of concern
was, nor do we know how to respond to his concern on this matter.
Ed, you know that we will work with you and your staff to try to
correct concerns which your inspectors have with our solid waste
facilities. However, in order for us to respond appropriately
and timely, your inspectors need to discuss their concerns with
supervisory personnel at the time of inspections. Sending an
inspection form a week later noting areas of concern will not
help us to resolve problems in a timely manner.
