The public and
commercial waste is dumped onto a common tipping floor. The tipping floor is
approximately eight feet below the commercial tipping area, four feet below the public
tipping area, and is approximately 35,000 square feet. The waste is manually picked and
sorted on the tipping floor by County personnel and with front-end loaders. Recyclable
materials, such as paper, cardboard, plastics, glass, metals, wood, yard waste, and other
recyclables, are separated, consolidated, and pushed into recycling bins. A public drop-off
area is located adjacent to the public tipping area. The drop-off area consists of several
small containers in which the public can drop off recyclable materials, such as aluminum
cans, paper, plastic, cardboard, and other recyclables. Other recyclables are stockpiled in
an open storage area south of the Recycling Center until a sufficient quantity is
accumulated to efficiently process or transport the materials.
Remaining Capacity
Approximately 7,800,000 tons of remaining capacity
