U
r]
The refuse throughput for the MRF is based on loading an average of 20 trailers per day. Each
transfer trailer holds approximately 22 tons of waste. Therefore, the number of transfer trucks
per day multiplied by 22 equals a standard throughput of 440 tpd for the refuse MRF operation.
The maximum refuse throughput for the MRF is based on loading 32 trailers per day. Therefore,
the maximum number of transfer trucks per day multiplied by 22 equals a maximum throughput of
704 tpd for the refuse MRF operation.
2.9 Disposal of Solid Waste (Non -Recyclable Items)
Non -recyclable solid waste is deposited in refuse transfer vehicles, and transported to a disposal
facility permitted to receive this material. At this time, normal operations call for all non -
recyclable material to be transferred to the Foothill Sanitary Landfill. Other disposal facilities may
be used if the Foothill Landfill is not available.
This refuse is loaded into transfer trucks through the loading chute at the north end of the MRF
using an articulated 'clam -shell" loading arm. Refuse falls through the chute into a refuse
transfer vehicle located under an opening in the floor above the transfer tunnel.
Most refuse received in a day is transferred to a disposal facility that same day; however, the
quantity of refuse received may require that material be stored in the Transfer Station overnight.
2.10 TRANSFER RECOVERY, AND PROCESSING EQUIPMENT
The equipment on site serves operational and maintenance needs A detailed list of current
equipment is shown in (Table 4).
Table 4
Lovelace Transfer Station
Operating Equipment
Description
Current Numbers
of Equipment
Equipment
Capacity
Front-end Loader
3
Varies
Lovelace MRF and Transfer Station
Transfer Processing Report
Department of Public Works/Solid Waste Division
17 County of San Joaquin 02/16/10
