Bi -Weekly Inspections <br />The AESC shall perform biweekly inspections of the Scale house, the Transfer <br />Building, and the Employee/Maintenance Facility for unsafe conditions. The <br />biweekly inspections include the following: <br />• Are exit doors marked? <br />• Are doors free of obstruction so they will open freely in an emergency? <br />• Are all fire extinguishers full, mounted, and readily accessible? <br />• Are First Aid Kits stocked and accessible? <br />• Are utility shut -offs accessible and unobstructed? <br />• Are the eye wash facilities working properly and unobstructed? <br />• Are walkways clear of obstruction? <br />• Are the lunchrooms free of toxic materials or other health hazards? <br />• Are there any spills that may be a hazard when walking? <br />• Are ladders in safe condition, and are ladder steps free of grease and oil? <br />• Are the step boxes stable? <br />• Are employees instructed to use safety devices? <br />See Figures 2 and 3 for the location of fire extinguishers, First Aid Kits, utility <br />shut -offs and eye -wash stations/showers. <br />&T-Ttn2;J =0017M <br />Employees will wear the following safety equipment, as appropriate for the work <br />tasks: <br />• Safety glasses, shields, or goggles when grinding metal or striking metal <br />with a hammer. <br />• Welding goggles or welding hood when welding or cutting or cutting metal. <br />• Gloves when working with sharpedge or cumbersome material. <br />• Face mask when working in a dusty environment, when under vehicles <br />with falling dirt particles, or when spray painting. <br />In addition, employees will put safety stands under vehicles held up by hydraulic <br />floor jacks. <br />is <br />Lovelace Transfer Station Solid Waste Division <br />Worksite Emergency Plan 5 Public Works Department <br />April 2010 San Joaquin County <br />
