Guide for Appliance Recyclers <br />June 2004 <br />Seven steps should be followed in removing light switches from chest freezers. <br />Step 1: Open the freezer lid and look for a manual switch. If there is no light or if <br />you find a manual switch, the appliance can be handled as scrap metal after all other <br />hazardous substances (CFCs, e.g.) have been removed.
