SanJoaquin Valley
Unified Air Pollution Control District
August 8, 1996
Kerry Sullivan
San Joaquin County AUG 9 1996
Community Development Department COMMUNI'f y Ut
Development Services Division
1810 East Hazelton Avenue PLANNING(31R0i
Stockton, CA 95205
SUBJECT: SITE APPROVAL APPLICATION (SA-96-38) FOR A TOMATO WASTE
AND TOMATO MUD SPREADING OPERATION —TRACY MATERIAL
RECOVERY
Dear Ms. Sullivan:
The San Joaquin Valley Unified Air Pollution Control District has reviewed the
proposed project and offers the following comments:
Based on the information provided, a negative declaration is appropriate from an air
quality perspective.
However, the District is concerned with the potential for this project to produce odors.
Waste materials resulting from food processing residue should be handled, treated,
and/or disposed of in a manner consistent with the prevention of objectionable odors
that may result in nuisance complaints to the District. The District recommends that the
tomato waste product be disced into the soil as quickly as possible to reduce the
potential impacts created by this project.
Thank you for the opportunity to comment. If you have any further questions, please
call me at (209) 545-7000.
Sincerely,
Ro
e -
Tra':c2yNaIer//t/
Environmental Planner APCD REF#960237
Northern Region.
David L.
