Transfer/Processing Report Tracy Material Recovery and Transfer Facility 30703 S. Mac4Whur Drive, Tracy, California 95377 - ® Hazardous wastes, special wastes, or other prohibited wastes may be discovered and segregated during the tipping of recyclable materials loads at the Facility which employees are properly trained to handle. Hazardous wastes are stored at the HHW storage areas and collected within 90 days by a licensed hazardous waste handler. Electronic waste is properly stored and collected by e=Recycling of California within 90 days. Treated wood wastes are segregated, containerized, and disposed of at an approved landfill within 90 days of receipt. Appliances requiring the removal of Freon or mercury switches are stored for less than 60 days until collected or delivered to a metals processor. Fluorescent tubes and batteries are containerized for less than 60 days pending transportation to AEA CRecycling Solutions. Litter Control Litter is removed daily, including from underneath equipment and other out-of-the- way locations, by site personnel to prevent accumulated material from interfering with safe operation. A daily (at minimum) site walk by facility personnel focuses on ensuring that wind-blown litter is picked up and a clean appearance maintained. The site is surrounded by fencing as shown on the Site Plan, which prevents litter from blowing from the facility onto public roads or neighboring property. Portable litter fences may be utilized, as needed, dependent upon wind conditions and direction. The operator will enforce a mandatory tarping policy for vehicles using the facility to cover all loads to mitigate roadside litter and dust generation around the facility. Medical Wastes Medical waste will not be accepted, and is strictly prohibited, at the Facility. Should medical waste be identified at the facility, the LEA would be notified immediately. Where a solid waste collector is suspect that medical waste may be commingled with MSW at the point of generation, the solid waste collector will load check the bins prior to collection at the point of generation, and will not collect the loads where a visual inspection would indicate that medical waste is present. The collector would also notify the LEA of the medical waste identification. Transfer Facility: Should the medical waste be found in those loads, by visually identifying the medical waste "red bag" or containers, the LEA will be contacted immediately, to alert them of the medical waste identification. A registered hazardous waste handler will be contacted, with guidance from the LEA, as needed, to recover the medical waste from the MSW loads at the Transfer Facility. Material Recovery Operations: Should sharps or other medical waste be identified on the recyclables pick line or C&D processing area, the supervisor will be alerted, a trained employee would remove the waste from the pick line, and the waste would be stored in an approved medical waste storage container, located in several areas of the MRF line and building or C&D Processing Area, for proper 30
