Facility Capacity Study
Tracy Material Recovery Facility and Transfer Station Expansion
30703 S. MacArthur Drive, Tracy, California 95377
As an emergency should the capacity be exhausted, Tracy Delta Disposal could direct
haul to the County Landfill.
Material Recovery Facility:
The Material Recovery Facility is housed in another portion of the enclosed building.
There is a processing system used for both commingled residential recyclables and
commingled commercial recyclables which has a design capacity of 480 TPD, and a
requested permitted amount of 480 TPD.
Belt Capacity— Design 480 TPD
The sorting system can handle a maximum of 20 tons per hour over the processing
equipment. Operating at full capacity over a 24-hour day up to 480 tons of recyclables
may be processed on the sort line.
Baling Operation— Design 480 TPD
The baler is capable of baling 20 tons per hour. Baling can occur 24 hours per day with
a design capacity of 480 tons per day.
Floor Space Capacity— 4,000 CYD
The MRF Floor Space will be expanded with the addition to the MRF Building. Sheet Al
provides the MRF Floor Plan and locations of the stockpiles. The stockpile capacity of
the MRF Floor space for mixed recyclables allows 1,000 CYD of residential and 945
cubic yards of commercial mixed recyclables. Source-separated cardboard and paper
can be stockpiled up to 1,920 cubic yards. Adequate storage capacity of almost 4,000
CYD is available for a peak day of 480 TPD which would only require up to 3,000 CYD.
The stockpiles are 8 feet high, and separated, while leaving adequate tipping area and
access for vehicles to tip indoors, and the ability of the front end loader to push material
onto the feed conveyor.
C&D Processing Facility
C&D Processing Facility- 820 TPD
Floor sorting capacity on the tipping pad of debris boxes loads and roll-off bins can vary
among the many different types of material. With small front-end loaders and 10 to 12
full-time sorters, 500 TPD could easily be handled to separate wood wastes, metal,
inerts, and the residuals.
With the installation of the mechanical sort line, the design capacity increases to 820
TPD, with up to 500 TPD of mixed C&D debris and 320 TPD of source-separated wood
waste, as described fully in the CDI Facility Report.
The facility is proposed to handle up to 500 TPD of mixed C&D debris. Mixed C&D
® debris varies in consistency. Tracy plans to recycle the Type A inerts, wood, metal,
cardboard, plastics (including film plastics), carpet padding, carpet, dry-wall, and C&D
4
