Facility Capacity Study
Tracy Material Recovery Facility and Transfer Station Expansion
30703 S. MacArthur Drive, Tracy, California 95377
excess of 360 commercial vehicles, if necessary. Given a representative mix of
commercial and self-haul vehicles queuing on the entrance road to the scalehouse,
approximately 51 vehicles (17 commercial and 34 self-haul) could be accommodated in
two lanes. The scalehouse attendants would be able to process the 51 vehicles in
approximately 17 minutes, allowing up to 163 vehicles to be processed each hour, or
more than the estimated peak vehicle count of 149. The outbound scale would be able
to process over 45 commercial vehicles per hour at a rate of 1.5 minutes per vehicle,
well above the average time needed, based upon the survey data, to process the
projected peak outbound traffic of 22 vehicles. Self-haul vehicles are not weighed upon
leaving the facility. Table 8 below illustrates the potential traffic volume throughput at the
scalehouse.
Table 8
Scalehouse Traffic capacity Analysis
Vehicle Classification Number Process Total Vehicles/ Peak Hours Total
Of Time Hour Hour Receiving Vehicles/
Scales (avg.minutes) 10am to Day
Inbound per 11 am
Vehicle (A x 60/13=C) (C x D=E)
A B C D E
Commercial 1 .25 240 59 12 2,880
Self-Haul 2 1 120 90 12 1,440
Outbound
1 1.5 45 22 12 1,080
Commercial Only
10
