Load Checking Program <br /> Tracy Material Recovery&Transfer Facility <br /> 30703 S. MacArthur Drive,Tracy,CA 95377 <br /> • Oxidizing substances and organic peroxides <br /> • Paint related materials <br /> • Automotive chemicals <br /> • Infectious wastes both treated and untreated <br /> • Universal wastes <br /> • Wastes requiring special handling not offered at the facility such as waste <br /> requiring immediate burial <br /> • CAW <br /> • Actions to take when PW is suspected in a waste load including: <br /> • Notification to customer <br /> • Notification to supervisor and/or load check staff <br /> • What situations and/or quantities of hazardous waste require evacuation <br /> 4.3.2. Load Checker Training <br /> All employees performing load checks shall receive a training course which covers PW <br /> recognition in detailed and provides the employee the ability to: <br /> • Understand and interpret basic laws and regulations preventing the <br /> acceptance of PW at solid waste facilities; <br /> • Safely remove PW items from waste loads and return them to customers; <br /> • Provide customers with flyers and answer basic questions with regards to <br /> where customers can find additional information and assistance regarding <br /> legal PW disposal; <br /> • Safely store PW items removed from waste loads in onsite hazardous waste <br /> storage area or container; <br /> • Recognize signs and symptoms of chemical exposure; <br /> • Use appropriate personal protective equipment; <br /> • Understand and interpret transportation limitations including what quantities <br /> and types require a permitted hazardous waste hauler; <br /> • Safely respond to incidental spills of hazardous waste; <br /> • Recognize hazardous waste situations which are significant, capable of <br /> exposing personnel to contaminants above Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL) <br /> and which may be Immediately Dangerous to Life and Health (IDLH) and <br /> beyond their safe scope of practice; <br /> • Understand the facility's basic reporting and documenting requirements for <br /> incidental and significant hazardous waste spills and illegal dumping; <br /> • Understand the procedures to notify applicable agencies. <br /> 4.3.3. Supervisors/Managers Training <br /> Supervisors and managers including the Operations Manager who is responsible for <br /> compliance and enforcing the Program shall have training which provides the <br /> supervisors/managers with the ability to: <br /> • Understand their responsibility for preventing the acceptance of PW at the <br /> facility; <br /> • Understand their responsibilities for preventing the transfer of PW to the <br /> 8 <br />
