Completed compost will be <br /> stored on a concrete slab. It will be sold bulk to agricultural enterprises. <br /> Waste Storage Ponds <br /> There are several storage ponds on-site. There are small storage ponds between each of <br /> the Woody's for collection of rain runoff. There is a storage pond west of the processing <br /> plant for wash water and rain runoff from the processing plant. The large storage pond is <br /> by the bunker and this is where all the liquefied manure from the houses will be closed <br /> cover. There is a thin layer of water on the surface to reduce flies and odors. In the past <br /> they utilized an area as a dry field. They would spread a thin layer of manure in this area <br /> and allow it to dry. The faster manure dries the less odor and flies you will have. SKS <br /> would like to utilize the dry fields again if they get into a bind with the composting <br /> machine. They will only be utilized if in a bind. <br /> Residences <br /> There are 7 residences or employee housing on-site. They consist of trailer homes, <br /> modular homes, and stick homes. <br /> Wells <br /> There are 4 domestic wells on-site. They provide fresh water to the residences,poultry <br /> houses, and processing plant. <br /> WASTE PRODUCED ON-SITE OTHER THAN MANURE <br /> Eggs <br /> The waste eggs (cracked, chipped,blood spots, etc.) from the packing shed are dumped <br /> into 55 gallon barrels. The surface of the barrels are covered with corn meal and picked <br /> up by California Spray Dry Company for pet food. <br /> Trash <br /> All garbage generated within the facility is put in an 8 x 16 x 6 trailer and hauled to North <br /> County Landfill, Harney Lane by S.K.S. employees approximately 2 times a week. <br /> Bird Mortality <br /> SKS has about a 5%mortality rate.
