WASTE MANAGEMENT
Manure storage
If dry poultry manure will be temporarily stored, it will be in an appropriate manner to
maintain the dryness of the manure and to prevent contamination of groundwater and
runoff water. Manure will be contained under a roofed structure on concrete or spread in
the dry field if allowed. Stored manure will be land-applied according to this plan as
previously described or sold or given away for off-site application.
Manure/Compost Testing
Manure sampling is needed to get a better idea of the nutrients actually being applied.
The sample will be collected prior to application and in coordination and conjunction of
the results of the soil samples of the selected sites for manure application.
Record Keeping
Detailed records will be maintained for all application of animal waste to land owned and
operated by the producer. Records should include date, time, location, and amount of
application; they could also include weather conditions, estimated wind speed and
direction, etc. Records should also be kept showing amounts of manure given or sold to
others. A copy of the manure analysis should be given to anyone who will use the manure
off-site.
8
