• a
Excess Manure
All excess manure will be sold or given away for off-site applications.
S.K.S.will provide to who ever moves the manure off-site a copy of the poultry manure analysis.
All manure that is land-applied by S.K.S.will be applied on land with an actively growing crop.
Manure application will not be applied on dormant crops in winter months unless growing crops
such as winter ryegrass, clover, etc. are the predominant vegetative cover.
Manure Storage
If dry poultry manure will be temporarily stored, it will be in an appropriate manner to
maintain the dryness of the manure and to prevent contamination of groundwater and runoff
water. Manure will be contained under a roofed structure on concrete. Stored manure will be
land-applied according to this plan as previously described or sold or given away for off-site
application.
Manure/Compost Testing
Detailed records should be maintained for all application of animal waste to land owned and
operated by the producer. Records should include date, time, location, and amount of
application, they could also include weather conditions, estimated wind speed and direction, etc.
Records should also be kept showing amounts of manure given or sold to others. A copy of the
manure analysis should be given to anyone who will use the manure off-site.
Operation and Maintenance of Equipment
Application equipment should be maintained in good working order, and it should be calibrated
so that the desired rate and amount of manure will be applied.
11
