Submit three (3) sets of detailed kennel construction plans to the EHD <br /> for review prior to construction. The EHD has specific requirements for <br /> kennel construction. <br /> Kennels are subject to a yearly permit, environmental health fee and <br /> inspection by the Environmental Health Division. <br /> The shelter for the dogs_should be constructed in such a manner as to <br /> be easily accessible for cleaning and servicing. <br /> interior walls of the shelter and associated maintenance room should be <br /> easily cleanable finish, preferably of painted plaster or concrete. <br /> The shelter floor and the immediate feeding area within pens or dog runs <br /> shall be of smooth concrete, coved on edges and graded toward a floor <br /> drain leading to legal sewage disposal facilities.* <br /> The remainder of each pen or dog run may be smooth earthpack, <br /> 16 preferably covered with pea gravel to a depth of three inches. <br /> A convenient water supply and legal waste water disposal facilities shall <br /> be available for washing food preparation equipment, bathing of animals, <br /> as well as washing down shelters and pens or dog runs. <br /> Animal food will be stored and fed in a manner which will not attract or <br /> serve as harborage or breeding site for flies or rodents. <br /> J. Applicant shall demonstrate to the satisfaction of the EHD that he has <br /> appropriate facilities and means for daily cleaning and disposal of dog <br /> droppings from pens or shelter without creating a nuisance. Acceptable <br /> disposal includes wrapping in two (2) layers of paper and depositing in <br /> garbage can, burial under 1 ' tight soil, or flushing into sewer. ** <br /> j.
