Ray Road Lodi, CA 95242 <br /> This letter is in response to a Service Request for review of the Solid Waste Manure Management <br /> Plan at Sunset Kennels Garden Retreat, located at 19705 N.Ray Road, Lodi,CA, submitted to <br /> the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department on December 20,2007. <br /> Review of the Manure Management Plan has been completed. Following is the deficiencies or <br /> comments: <br /> 1.) Standard Kennel Conditions require a convenient water supply and waste water <br /> disposal system meeting the requirements of the Environmental Health Department <br /> that shall be available for washing food preparation equipment,bathing of animals, as <br /> well as washing down shelters and pens or dog runs.The shelter floor and the <br /> immediate feeding area within pens or dog runs shall be of smooth concrete,coved <br /> on edges and graded toward a floor drain leading to legal sewage disposal facilities. <br /> a. The plans submitted include a map that includes a residential septic system in <br /> place,but lack an acceptable commercial septic system for waste water <br /> disposal from the kennel. Submit plans to include an acceptable commercial <br /> septic system. <br /> b. The plans submitted note the use of floor drains but do not specify floor drain <br /> grading for proper waste water runoff used for bathing animals or washing <br /> down shelters,pens, or dog runs to an approved water disposal system. <br /> Submit plans to include proper floor drain grading. <br /> 2.) Applicant shall demonstrate that appropriate facilities and means for daily cleaning <br /> and disposal of solid waste from the kennel are used.Acceptable disposal includes <br /> wrapping in two layers of paper and depositing in garbage can or flushing into <br /> approved waste water disposal system. <br />
