Ray Road Lodi, CA 95242
This letter is in response to a Service Request for review of the Solid Waste Program Plan at
Sunset Kennels Garden Retreat, located at 19705 N. Ray Road,Lodi, CA, submitted to the San
Joaquin County Environmental Health Department on December 20,2007.
The Plan Check has been completed. Following is the deficiencies or comments:
1.) Standard Kennel Conditions require interior walls of the shelter and associated
maintenance room should be easily cleanable finish.
The plans submitted do not include type of finish on walls within kennel. Submit
plans to include type of easily cleanable finish will be on walls within kennel.
2.) Standard Kennel Conditions require a convenient water supply and waste water disposal
system meeting the requirements of the Environmental Health Department that shall be
available for washing food preparation equipment, bathing of animals,as well as washing
down shelters and pens or dog runs.
The plans submitted include a residential septic system in place, but lack an
acceptable commercial septic system for waste water disposal from the kennel.
Submit plans to include a map of an acceptable commercial waste water disposal
system.
3.) Standard Kennel Conditions require the shelter floor and the immediate feeding area
within pens or dog runs shall be of smooth or sealed concrete, coved on edges, and
graded toward a floor drain leading to legal sewage disposal facilities.
a.) The plans submitted do not specify what type of flooring or what type of coving
at edges of floor is intended to be used to prevent waste water seepage. Submit
plans to specify flooring and coving to be used in kennel.
