Sludge Monitoring
Semi-annual sampling of the municipal sludge would be performed to characterize the
sludge. Analysis of the following constituents would be performed.
• Total solids
• Total Kjeldahl nitrogen
• Ammonium nitrogen
• Nitrate nitrogen
• Phosphorus
• Potassium
• Zinc
• Copper
• Nickel
• Cadmium
• Lead
Groundwater Monitoring
A groundwater monitoring network would be established to evaluate the effects of
sludge application on shallow groundwater. The network would consist of five moni-
toring wells located on the perimeter of the K&L Farms' operation area. An existing
40-foot-deep well, located in the eastern corner of the site, would also be used for
monitoring purposes.
Water samples would be taken from the wells on a quarterly basis. The samples would
be analyzed for the following constituents to determine changes in local groundwater
quality, if any:
• pH
• Depth to static water level
• Appearance (color)
• Temperature
• Total dissolved solids
• Nitrate nitrogen
• Phosphorus
• Potassium
• Zinc
• Copper
• Nickel
• Cadmium
• Lead
2
SAC qW/081.51
