Proposed change #Monitorin-u and ReportingflogramNo. 97-115
P g
EFFLUENT MONITORING
(When discharge to surface waters)
Effluent samples shall be collected downstream from the last connection through which waste can be
admitted into the outfall. Effluent samples should be representative of the volume and nature of the
discharge. Samples collected from the outlet structure of ponds will be considered adequately
composited. Time of collection of a grab sample shall be recorded. Effluent monitoring program shall
include at least the following:
Constituents Unit Type of Sample Sampling Frequency
20°C BODS mg/1 24-hr Composite Daily
Suspended Matter mg/1 24-hr Composite Daily
Settleable Matter ml/1 Grab Daily
Total Dissolved Solids mg/1 Grab Quarterly
Standard Minerals' mg/1 Grab Yearly
pH pH units Grab Daily
Bioassay' (96-hr static) % Survival Grab Weekly
Total Coliform Organisms MPN/100 ml Grab Daily
Chlorine Residual mg/1 Grab Daily
Temperature F°/C° Grab Daily
Flow MGD Cumulative Continuous
Oil and Grease mg/1 Grab Weekly
Nitrate (as N) mg/l Grab Weekly
Ammonia (as NO mg/1 Grab Weekly
' Test procedures to follow the latest version of EPA/600/4-90/027, asing fethead minnows ormIden shine
Standard minerals include total dissolved solids, electrical conductivity;chloride, sulfate, nitrate, bicarbonate alkalinity,
carbonate alkalinity, calcium,magnesium,potassium,sodium,pH and hardness
If the discharge is intermittent rather than continuous, then on the first day of each such intermittent
discharge, the Discharger shall monitor and record data for all of the constituents listed above, after
which the frequencies of analysis given in the schedule shall apply for the duration of each such
intermittent discharge.
