Musco Family Olive Company - 3 - 21 March 2007
Staff requests Musco submit a report with the rationale for well locations designated as C(R3),
D(R3), and E(R3) and identify the geologic horizon(s) the wells are intended to monitor. The
report should also provide the results of borings B-1 through B-3 and an interpretation of those
results. The report is due by 10 April 2007.
According to the work plan schedule, Musco proposes to proceed with well installation in May
2007, if normal or below normal rainfall has occurred during the 2006/2007 wet season.
Based on current precipitation data from the Department of Water Resources, the 2006/2007
wet season for the Tracy area appears to be below normal precipitation and therefore staff
anticipate that the nine Phase I wells will be installed during May 2007. Staff understands that
permission to access neighboring properties is required for well installation and that Musco is
progressing with the access agreements. Once drilling of the Phase I borings has been
completed, a well installation report shall be submitted within 60 days of completion. The well
installation report must be prepared in accordance with the attached report guidelines.
The proposed Phase 1 drilling is critical to further characterize groundwater conditions at the
site. However, additional off-site investigation has been recommended to define and
characterize off-site impacts. Following evaluation of groundwater sampling data collected
through November 2007, and submission of the Water Quality Protection Standard by
1 December 2007, the Discharger shall submit the Phase II work plan by 31 January 2008.
If you have any questions please call me at (916) 464-4737.
Todd A.
