INFORMATION SHEET
LODI VINTNERS, INC.
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
Lodi Vintners Inc., a grape crushing and storing facility is at 3750 E. Woodbridge Road
in Woodbridge, CA. The facility is located 1/4 mile north of the Mokelumne River.
The site is in Section 36, T4N, R6E, MDB&M. The facility was formerly known as
Turner Winery. The Waste Discharge Requirements, Order No. 80-055, for Turner
Winery were rescinded on 23 June 1989.
Lodi Vintners, Inc. will be crushing 3000 tons of grapes annually. The grape juice will be
chilled and stored in tanks (3.5 million gallons capacity) before being transported by
truck to wineries. Solids will be removed by settling, aided by mechanical pressing and a
desludging centrifuge. The grape pumice, stems, leaves and other organic matters
associated with the crushing processes at the plant will be hauled directly off-site by a
hauler as dump truck loads accumulate.
Lodi Vintners Inc. will be discharging 50,000 gpd of wash water from the processing
facility to four evaporation/percolation ponds in series. The wastewater will consist of
effluent from washing equipment and grape juice storage tanks. Cleaning agents that
will be used are those prevalent among similar operations. Those agents include a 1%
solution of chlorinated tri-sodium phosphate and calcium hypochlorite solutions. The
four ponds have a storage capacity of 3,900,000 gallons. The depth of the ground water
is estimated to be 40 feet.
Lodi Vintners, Inc. will be operating early August through late October. During non-
operation season, the evaporation/percolation ponds will be utilized for storm water
collection. The storm water runoffs will not include any solids or cleaning agents
accumulated by the crushing operation.
