i <br /> Site Background Information <br /> ERNIE'S GENERAL STORE <br /> 4407 East Waterloo Road, Stockton, California <br /> The site, located at 4407 East Waterloo Road in Stockton, California (Figure 1), is currently <br /> occupied by a one-story grocery market and a gasoline fueling facility Five fuel dispensers are <br /> located south of the market, four fuel dispensers are located east of the market, and two fuel <br /> underground storage tanks(USTs)are located southeast of the market Presently,the facility operates <br /> one split 15,000-gallon UST containing 10,000 gallons of diesel fuel and 5,000 gallons of premium <br />' unleaded fuel, and one 15,000-gallon UST containing regular unleaded fuel <br />' REGIONAL GEOLOGIC/HYDROGEOLOGIC SETTING <br /> The property is situated within the Great Valley Geomorphic Province of California, a large, <br />' elongate, northwest-trending, asymmetric structural trough The Great Valley Province has been <br /> filled with thick sequences of sediment ranging in age from Jurassic to Recent,creating a nearly flat- <br /> lying alluvial plain that extends from the Tehachapi Mountains in the south to the Klammath <br /> Mountains in the north The California Coast Range and the Sierra Nevada form the western and <br /> eastern boundaries of this province Rocks composing the basement complex of the province have <br /> not been completely defined but are believed to be of metamorphic and igneous origin The northern <br />' • and southern portions of the Great Valley Province have been designated the Sacramento and San <br /> Joaquin Valleys, respectively <br />' The Modesto, Riverbank, and Turlock Lake Formations and overlying Recent alluvium are the <br /> principal source of domestic ground water in the 13,500-square-mile San Joaquin Valley Ground <br /> I Water Basin (Basin 5-22) This basin is drained primarily by the San Joaquin River The nearest <br /> surface water feature in the vicinity of the property is the Mokolumne River approximately one-half <br /> mile north of the subject property <br />' The estimated depth to ground water at the property is 30 to 35 feet below surface grade(bsg),based <br /> on the map entitled Lines of Equal Depth to Groundwater Sprang 1996 published by the San Joaquin <br />' County Flood Control District and Water Conservation District (FCD&WCD) The map entitled <br /> Lines of Equal Elevation of Groundwater Sprang 1996, also published by the FCD&WCD, shows <br /> the property to be in an area where ground water flows toward the south and southwest,but this may <br />' be modified by seasonally and locally variable recharge and discharge patterns The inferred ground <br /> water flow direction at the site is toward the southwest <br />' UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANK REMOVAL <br />' On 05 January 1999, one 12,000-gallon fuel UST and two 10,000-gallon fuel USTs were removed <br /> . from the southeast end of the site The approximate locations of the former USTs are shown on <br /> Figure 2 <br /> Advanced GeoEnvironmeotal,Inc <br /> I <br />
