Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)
• VOCs were not detected any of the borings above the laboratory detection limits.
GROUNDWATER SAMPLE ANALYTICAL RESULTS
The following information is a summary of the groundwater sample analytical test results. This
information has also been included in Table 2.
Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPUM
• TPHg was not detected in boring SB1 above the laboratory detection limits.
Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as diesel (TPHd)
• TPHd was detected in boring SBI at 170 pg/I, which does exceed the ESLs.
Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as motor oil (TPHmo)
• TPHmo was detected in boring SB1 at 940 pg/I which does exceed the ESLs.
Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)
• Chloroform was detected in boring SB1 at 0.84 pg/I which does not exceed the ESLs.
• No other VOCs were detected in the groundwater samples from boring S131 above the
laboratory detection limits.
5.0 SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS
AEI has completed a Phase II at the property. The purposed of the investigation was to
conduct a geophysical survey to evaluate the possible presence of remaining USTs in area
noted as 'oil and gas" and to investigate the potential presence of the CDCs which were
previously identified at the site.
A geophysical survey was conducted which revealed the presence of two (2) areas of soil
disturbance. No indications of current USTs were noted. A total of three (3) borings were
advanced at the property for the collection of soil and groundwater samples. The borings were
advanced within the area of the "gas & oil" building footprint as noted on the Sanborn maps in
the Phase I ESA and based on the results of the geophysical survey. The results of this
investigation were compared to ESLs. The following impacts above these levels were identified:
• TPHd was identified in groundwater which exceeds the ESLs.
• TPHmo was identified in groundwater which exceeds the ESLs.
This investigation has confirmed the presence of TPHd and TPHmo in groundwater which
indicates a release. Although the soil sample analyses did not identify a significant impact,
groundwater has been impacted. AEI recommends that the release to the subsurface be
reported to the appropriate oversight agency. Reporting of the findings of this investigation is a
requirement of the drilling permit issued for this work. The regulatory agency may require
additional investigation.
Project No. 305662 AE1
April 4, 2012
