1 <br /> I + <br /> 14 December 2000 <br />' AGE-NC Project No 99-0559 <br /> Page 7 of 11 <br />' 3 3 2 Ground Water Sampling <br /> Following well purging, ground water levels from each well achieved a minimum of 80 percent <br />' recharge prior to sample collection Ground water samples were collected from the purged wells <br /> utilizing new, disposable polyethylene bailers and four 40-m1 EPA-approved VOA vials containing <br />' 0 5 ml 18% hydrochloric acid as a preservative Care was taken to ensure that visible air bubbles <br /> were not present in the vials after filling and capping Ground water sample containers were labeled <br /> with the well designation, date, time, and sampler's initials <br /> 3 3 3 Laboratory Analysis of Ground Water Samples <br /> rEach ground water sample was logged on a chain-of-custody form, placed in a chilled container and <br /> transported to MAI and analyzed for <br /> • TPH-g by EPA Method 8015M, <br /> BTEX and MTBE by EPA Method 8020 <br /> • TBA, DIPE, ETBE, TAME and MTBE by EPA Method 8260M <br /> 3 3 4 Free Product Removal <br /> During the quarterly monitoring and sampling in February free phase petroleum product was <br /> I encountered at the site in ground water monitoring well MW-2 Therefore, according to California <br /> Underground Storage Tank Regulations,Article 5, Section 2655,the removal of the free product was <br /> required <br /> Between February and March 2000, measurements of free product thickness were collected from <br /> well MW-2 and the free-product from the well was manually hand bailed Approximately three feet <br /> of product was initially measured in February 2000 After removal, the water and free product were <br /> stored on-site in 55-gallon DOT H-17 storage drums The current free product level is approximately <br /> one-tenth of an inch Field data and logs are included with Appendix B <br /> 4.0 FINDINGS <br /> •� Soil stratigraphy (lithology) for the site, was determined from field data Hydrocarbon-impacted soil <br /> and ground water were characterized from field and laboratory analytical data <br /> I <br />
