I
HISTORICAL BACKGROUND-SITE CONCEPTUAL MODEL
WATERLOO FOOD AND FUEL
3032 East Waterloo Road, Stockton, California
1
BACKGROUND
The site was occupied by a former gasoline station and a mini-mart The mini-mart and service
station are currently in operation with an up-graded UST system Three gasoline USTs and one
waste oil UST were removed from the site in January 1999 AGE has been informed that an
abandoned UST estimated at 5,000-gallons was discovered and remains in place at the site
SITE DESCRIPTION
The site is located on the southwest corner of Waterloo Road and Sutro Avenue, approximately
2,000 feet west of Highway 99 August Elementary School is located north of the site, with the
surrounding area consisting of residential and commercial properties A single structure occupies
the southern portion of the site
I
. SITE HYDROGEOLOGIC CONDITIONS
IThe closest surface water feature to the site is the Stockton Diverting Canal, located approximately
1,000 feet northeast of the site Generally, the ground water elevation data collected from
surrounding sites has documented a seasonal fluctuation of approximately five to ten feet At the site
ground water has been monitored at depths ranging from 32 feet to 65 feet below surface grade
(bsg) Based upon ground water data collected from nearby subsurface investigations, the ground
water flow direction has been dominantly toward the south, however, the ground water flow at the
site has been inferred to be toward the southwest In general, ground water occurs within a light
brown clayey silt
1
UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANK REMOVAL
AGE has been informed that on 06 January 1999, Oil Equipment Service (OES) of San Andreas,
California,removed four UST's identified as T-1 (5,000-gallon gasoline UST),T-2(10,000-gallon
gasoline UST),T-3 (10,000-gallon gasoline UST),T-4(500-gallon waste oil UST), fuel dispensers
and associated product piping from the northeast portion of the site During excavation, two
previously unknown USTs, identified as USTs 45 and#6,were discovered On 16 February 1999
USTs No 5 and No 6 were removed and soil samples were collected beneath each former UST
position
I On 22 February 1999, approximately 100 cubic yards of hydrocarbon-impacted soil was excavated
and approximately 125 cubic yards of hydrocarbon-impacted stockpiled soil were hauled from the
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc
