360,000µg/l, ethyl-benzene at 200,000 pg/l, and xylenes at 1,400,000 pg/l MTBE
concentrations ranged between 720 gg/1 (EW-3) and 130,000 µg/1 (EW-2)
• 22 November Individual samples were collected from each ground water extraction well
influent stream and analyzed The highest concentrations of TPH-g were detected in the
sample collected from well EW-2, at 3,700,000 pg/1 The highest concentrations of BTEX
compounds were detected from well EW-2, with benzene at 58,000 µg/l, toluene at
720,000pg/l, ethyl-benzene at 390,000 pg/l, and xylenes at 2,600,000 pg/l MTBE
concentrations ranged between 1,700 pg/1 (EW-3) and 140,000 pg/l (EW-2)
• 14 December Individual samples were collected from each ground water extraction well
influent stream and analyzed The highest concentrations of TPH-g were detected in the
sample collected from well EW-2, at 34,000,000 pg/l The highest concentrations ofBTEX
compounds were detected from well EW-2, with benzene at 500,000 gg/l, toluene at
3,400,00Opg/l, ethyl-benzene at 1,900,000 pg/l, and xylenes at 2,100,000 pg/1 MTBE
concentrations ranged between 620 pg/1 (EW-3) and 370,000 pg/1 (EW-2)
TPH-g,xylene and MTBE were detected in the effluent sample collected on 19 September 2004 Due
to the minor detection of MTBE at 120 pg/l, the discharge was suspended and all 4,000 lbs of
granular activated carbon were replaced to provide for complete recovery of dissolved MTBE The
treatment system effluent sampling conducted on the 04, 14 and 27 of October were all non-detect
for MTBE and petroleum hydrocarbons
Analytical results of pump and treat water samples are summarized in Table 3 CTEL laboratory
reports (CTEL Project No CT214-0407138, 0408114, 0409109, 0411164, 0412102, 0410001,
04100021, 0410088 and 04010179) with QA/QC reports and chain of custody forms are included
in Appendix C GeoTracker confirmation pages of the submitted laboratory electronic deliverable
format (EDF) files are included in Appendix D
3 5 MASS-VOLUME REMOVAL CALCULATIONS I
During the third and fourth quarters of 2004,an estimated 5,238 lbs of TPH-g, 80 lbs of benzene and
105 lbs of MTBE were extracted from ground water Since the initiation of the ground water
extraction/treatment system in May 2003, a total of 5,768 lbs of TPH-g, 140 lbs of benzene and
262 6 lbs of MTBE have been extracted from ground water The 2004 volumetric calculations from
the ground water pump-and-treat system are presented in Appendix E
