15 April 2004
. AGE-NC Project No 99-0559
poly tank(holding tank) prior to processing The holding tank is equipped with various water level
float controls to control the rate at which extracted water is introduced Into the treatment vessels, to
allow coarser sediment to settle out prior to treatment and to provide safety shutoff capabilities A
high float(high-high)was installed near the top of the holding tank and Is designed to shut the entire
system down If water level exceeds the high-high float A middle float(high-low)was installed near
the middle of the holding tank and Is designed to turn on the process pump when water level exceeds
the high-low float A low float was installed near the bottom of the holding tank (low-low) and Is
designed to turn off the process pump
A %z-horsepower, single-phase centrifugal process pump was installed Inside the holding tank The
` process pump Is designed to process ground water through the treatment system at a maximum flow
rate of 10 gallons per minute (GPM)
` An electrical control panel was Installed adjacent the process tank and pump Electrical wlnng from
the ground water extraction pumps, process pump and holding tank float controls were connected
to the electrical control panel Plump controls are supplied by a pressurized air line for the pump
controls
From the process pump, 1-inch diameter PVC pipe (schedule 40) was routed to a 5-gallon
suspended-solids filter chamber equipped with 25-micron replaceable,blown-fabric sediment filter
bags From the filter chamber, the water was routed to the four 1,000-pound vessels containing
granular activated carbon(GAC} The GAC media vessels are designed to adsorb TPH-g and BTEX
compounds
Brass sampling ports were Installed at the Influent, between the media vessels and at the effluent to
allow detection of potential media break through and to obtain final discharge samples A battery
operated,F-2000(model RT) Blue-White Industries flow meter was Installed on the effluent line to
continuously measure and display the effluent flow rate and to continuously measure and display the
total flow The flow meter Is designed to operate between 6 and 20 gallons per minute An Lower
Explosive Level (LEL) meter was installed on the ground water effluent at the site
The ground water treatment system Is enclosed within a chain-link fence on the southeast side of the
site, secondary containment consists of a 6-inch high concrete wall surrounding the treatment
system
Advanced GcoEnvironmental.Inc
