' 10 April 2003
AGE-NC Project No 99-0559
' Page 7of8
' 4.0. SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS
Based on data collected during the monitoring event, AGE concludes
• The general ground water flow direction for HUl/HU2, HU3/HU4, HU5U and HU5L was
west to north-northwest Ground water flow direction in the deepest hydrologic unit(HU6)
- appeared to flow south
• Free product continues to be present in well MW-2, and a very small layer of free product
was detected in well MW-3, located at the south end of the UST area
• The highest concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons detected at the site were present in
the ground water samples collected from wells screened in HU1 and HU2 at the UST area
In addition, high concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbon compounds were detected at all
sample depths in well MW-7
• Relative to the previous quarter, the concentrations of TPH-g appeared to increase, only
samples MW-7D and MW-8A showed significant declines BTEX compounds and MTBE
decreased or remained essentially unchanged Overall lower concentrations of TPH-g and
[ 0 BTEX compounds were detected in well MW-8 relative to the previous quarter
• TBA,TAME and 1,2-DCA were detected in samples from the former UST area, and down-
gradient of the UST area
• The vertical extend of impacted ground water at the former UST area has not been defined
at the site In addition, the lateral extent of impacted ground water towards the west and
Isouthwest, down-gradient of the UST area, has not been defined
5.0. RECOMMENDATIONS
Based on the findings and conclusions in this report, AGE recommends the following
• Continue quarterly ground water monitoring, the next quarterly monitoring event is
scheduled for April 2003
• Installation of additional monitoring wells west and southwest of the:site to define the lateral
extent of petroleum hydrocarbons-impacted ground water
• Installation of a shallow to intermediate depth ground water extraction system to minimize
the lateral migration of petroleum hydrocarbons-impacted ground water
•
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc
