The sampling protocol described within the workplan only allows
for selected TPH-G and D analysis of soil samples . Only one soil
sample (highest TPH) is proposed for the BTEX constituents .
PHS-EHD cautions that during the Problem Assessment/Site
Characterization phase of investigation, adequate samples be
analyzed so that both horizontal and vertical limits and the
nature of the contamination can be determined. By only analyzing
one soil sample per boring for BTEX, it is very possible that
adequate data to define the limits of contamination will not be
collected during this phase and additional data collection may be
required in the future in order to evaluate any remediation plan.
A site specific safety plan is required prior to the final
approval of the workplan. Please include a map to the nearest
emergency facility with the route highlighted. Phone numbers for
the persons accepting twenty-four hour (24 hr) responsibility
during this phase of well installation must be included in the
safety plan also .
Please submit separate boring permits for onsite and offsite work
along with a separate $89 . 00 fee per application. Offsite/public
property access agreements or encroachment permits are required
prior to the issuance of PHS-EHD boring permits . Submit a copy of
either along with your addendum to the workplan.
Please direct your submittals, requests for field appointments,
or any questions you may have to Michael Infurna at (209) 468-
3454 .
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
zg-"_-e ; ,
Michael Infurna, enior REHS Diane M: Hinson, REHS
Site Mitigation Unit Supervisor
MI
c : Sota - D.
