Infurna
Environmental Health Division—LOP/Site Mitigation Unit IV
304 East Weber Avenue, Third Floor
Stockton, CA 95202-2708
Re: U-Haul#709-50 located at 2701 North Wilson 'Way in Stockton, CA
Dear Mr. Infurna
Blaes Environmental Management Inc_ (Blaes Environmental) is submitting this letter on behalf
of U-Haul International Inc. (U-Haul) in response to the San Joaquin County Environmental
Health Department's (EHD) letter dated June 3, 2003 detailing comments to Blaes
Environmental's Remedial Feasibility Test Report and subsequent developments at the site. In
this letter, EHD has directed the submittal of a work plan by July 14, 2003 for continued
investigation of the lateral and vertical extent of 1,2 DCA associated with the UST release at the
U-Haul site.
Blacs Environmental will have difficulty in meeting the July 14, 2003 deadline since the letter
dated June 3, 2003 was received June 23, 2003. We are currently completing the Second Quarter
2003 Site Status Report for this site. This report includes the installation of two off-site
groundwater monitoring wells as well as the subsequent groundwater sampling event conducted
in May 2003. Much of the work plan requested in EHD's July 3, 2003 letter will be based on
results/conclusions of this report. Blaes Environmental is requesting an extension of the
deadline to July 31, 2003,to allow for the work.plan preparation as well as review by U-Haul and
their attorney (David Grande-Cassell).
If you have any questions or comments regarding this letter, please do not hesitate to contact me
at(602) 728-0707.
aMl JQAIOOY11iY
Sincerely, 301E =MW
a
Blaes Environmental Management, Inc.
00
Daniel Blaes /
President
cc: Reid Riner—U-Maul International Remaft
'date
1439 North TWrd Avenue, Approval Now

TNephonc(902)72iA707 r ,
