U-Haul #709-50 page 2
2701 N. Wilson Way, Stockton.
Additionally, soil analyses for EDB and Lead may be needed to support
delineation conclusions that will be required in the Site Conceptual Model (SCM),
due for this site.
The report of findings for this phase of work should be formatted in the context of
a SCM, that will be added to as additional data is acquired. In order to support
plume (groundwater) delineation conclusions, future quarterly groundwater
monitoring sampling events should be modified to include all of the above noted
analytes if they are detected in soil samples from this phase. After at least four
consecutive quarterly ground water sampling events verify that these analytes
are not present at acceptable QA/QC levels, you may request from EHD that
they be eliminated from your sampling protocol.
Please note that MW-8A is atypical when compared to the other seven A-zone
wells. MW-8A contains water since its' screened interval extends below 50 feet.
All the other A-zone wells end at 50 feet or less and are dry. The ten other
monitoring wells at this site with screen intervals extending to 60 feet or deeper
are designated as B-zone wells. EHD recommends MW-8A designation be
changed to MW-8B since its' screen interval is more like that of MW10B,
MW 11 B and MW 12B.
As of this date, EHD is unaware of any progress made to transfer Frontier Motel
drinking water well/supply from wellhead treatment to the municipal/city water
supply. Once U-Haul obtains eligibility with the SWRCB-Clean Up Fund, the
financial review could determine that U-Haul has not provided a cost-effective
approach to providing potable water for Frontier Motel, and as such, some/all of
the costs may not be reimbursed. U-Haul is to take immediate and effective
measures to evaluate if wellhead treatment for this long period can be
interpreted as cost-effective when compared to the cost to connect Frontier
Motel to a permanent and safe municipal water supply.
You may contact Michael Infurna at (209) 468-3454 if you have any questions.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Enviro mental Healt e artment
Michael J.
