' BlaeS Environmental Management Inc 2nd Qtr 2005 Groundwater Montlonng Report 002-70950-04 U-Haul#709-50 ' Appendix B Groundwater samples collected from the site were contained in appropriate sample bottles supplied by Sequoia Analytical Following collection, the groundwater samples were placed on ice and ' transported, under proper sham-of-custody protocol, to Sequoia Analytical of Sacramento, California for ' analysis 3 2 2 Groundwater Sample Analysis—June 2005 The groundwater samples collected during the second quarter 2005 groundwater monitoring event were analyzed for Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons — diesel range (TPHd) using U S Environmental Protection ' Agency (EPA) Method 8015B The samples were also analyzed for Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons — gasoline range (TPHg), Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC's) including benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes (BTEX), methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE), tert-butanol (TBA), di-isopropyl ether (DIPE), ethyl tert-butyl ether (ETBE), and tert-amyl methyl ether (TAME), 1,1-Dichloroethane (1,1 ' DCA), 1,2-Dichloroethane(1,2 DCA), and 1,2 Dibromoethane (EDB)according to EPA Method 8260 ' 3 3 GROUNDWATER ANALYTICAL RESULTS—JUNE 2005 Laboratory analytical results for the second quarter 2005 groundwater sampling event, which included two sample groups (middle (B) and lower(C) casing samples), revealed substantial variation between the two groups The petroleum hydrocarbon concentrations in the groundwater samples collected from the "B" casing wells were generally consistent for the second quarter 2005 groundwater sampling event as compared to the first quarter of 2005 Blaes Environmental has observed a wide range of fluctuations during the groundwater monitoring program (Figure 4) The fluctuation in VOC levels is likely attributed to the seasonal fluctuation of groundwater elevation as the groundwater interface moves across ' the smear zone A summary of the analytical results for the June 2005 sampling event is presented in Table 3 A copy of the corresponding laboratory analytical report and chain-of-custody documentation is ' provided in Appendix C ' Analytical results of groundwater samples collected from the well casings screened across the groundwater interface (middle "B" casings) revealed two co-mingled plumes of dissolved phase hydrocarbons beneath the U-Haul site and the Former Harry's Auto Mart Facility The highest concentrations of hydrocarbons in groundwater at the U-Haul site are from wells MW-213, MW-3B, and 7
