' Blaes Environmental Management Inc 2nd Qtr 2005 Groundwater Monrtonng Report
002-70950-04 U-Haul#709 50
• 3.0 GROUNDWATER MONITORING PROGRAM
' The groundwater monitoring program discussed below includes one monitoring event conducted in June
2005 At the request of SJCEHD, this groundwater monitoring event was coordinated with Ground Zero
' Analysis (GZA), the consultant for the Former Harry's Auto Mart site located southeast of the U-Haul
facility The measurement and sampling methods employed throughout the groundwater monitoring
' event are discussed in the following sections
' 3 1 GROUNDWATER MEASUREMENTS—JUNE 2005
On June 13, 2005, Blaes Environmental measured the depth to groundwater in the 19 groundwater
monitoring wells (29 well casings) associated with the U-Haul site Groundwater levels in the well
casings were measured from a surveyed point on the top of the monitoring well casing to the groundwater
surface All water levels were measured to the nearest hundredth of a foot (0 01 ft) using a Heron
electronic water-level sounder The water level depth and time of measurement were recorded on a
standard field data sheet The field data sheets for this monitoring event are included as Appendix A and
' . water levels are tabulated with previous monitoring data in Table 2 Groundwater depth measurements
were performed in accordance with Blaes Environmental groundwater monitoring procedures presented
as Appendix B
Groundwater depths recorded on June 13, 2005 ranged from approximately 48 48 feet below top of
casing (btoc) in well MW-7C to approximately 51 56 feet btoc in well MW-6C Groundwater elevations
ranged from approximately 30 59 feet below mean sea level in well MW-8C to approximately 31 09 feet
below mean sea level in well MW-10B (Table 2) Other observations collected during groundwater
' monitoring activities are presented on the field data sheet included in Appendix A
' Groundwater measurements from select U-Haul "B" well casings were used to derive a groundwater
gradient map illustrating groundwater conditions at the site (Figure 3) Groundwater elevation data from
' monitoring wells MW-4B, MW-8B, MW-1013, MW-11B, and MW-12B were used to generate the
gradient map All other monitoring wells screened in the "B" had submerged well screens due to the
5
1
