BIaQS Environmental Management Inc 4th Qtr 2003 Groundwater Monitoring Report
002-70950-04
U-Haul#709-50
Analytical results ofoundwater samples collected
' p from the well casings screened across the
groundwater interface (middle "B" casings) revealed two co-mingled plumes of dissolved phase
hydrocarbons beneath the U-Haul site and the Former Harry's Auto Mart Facility The highest
concentrations of hydrocarbons in groundwater at the U-Haul site are from wells MW-2B and MW-4B,
and the highest concentrations at the Former Harry's Auto Mart are from HA MW-I Concentrations of
Benzene and 1,2 DCA were below laboratory reporting limits in U-Haul's groundwater samples from
monitor wells MWAC, MW-5B, MW-5C, MW-8A, MW-IOB, MW-IIB, MWA IC, MW-12B, and
MW-12C Concentration contours and the approximate extent of Benzene and 1,2 DCA for the `B"
horizon are presented in Figures 4 and 5, respectively Analytical results are summarized in Table 3
Analytical results of groundwater samples collected from the lower "C" casing wells, screened between
approximately 60 and 100 feet bgs, revealed the highest concentration of hydrocarbons to be located
around well MW-4C Concentrations of Benzene and 1,2 DCA were below laboratory reporting limits in
U-Haul's groundwater samples from monitor well MW-5C, 8C, IOC, IIC, and 12C Concentration
contours and the approximate extent of Benzene and 1,2 DCA for the "C" horizon are presented in
. Figures 7 and 8, respectively Analytical results are summarized in Table 3
The laboratoryanalysis of for
y fuel additives (MTBE, TBA, DIPE, ETBE, and TAME) yielded
concentrations above laboratory reporting limits in samples from wells MW-1B and MW-7C Analytical
results of the groundwater samples collected from wells MW-2B and MW-2C (analyzed by EPA Method
8260 full list) indicated detections of BTEX, 1,2 DCA, 1,2,4-Trimethylbenzene, and 1,3,5-
TrimethyIbenzene, Isopropylbenzene n-propylbenzene, and Naphthalene Refer to the analytical report
included in Appendix C for details
Based on the December 2003 analytical results, there appears to be limited communication between the
"B" and "C" horizons The LNAPL such as TPH and BTEX, appears to be concentrated in the "B"
horizon while the heavier DNAPL such as 1,2 DCA, has penetrated more extensively into the "C"
horizon
f 9
f
